Mahler Chamber Orchestra

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra is a professional touring chamber orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado and former members of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in 1997. The MCO plays more than 60 concerts a year and has been awarded with The Porin Award for Best Foreign Classical Music Album.


With a sound characterised by the tight ensemble playing of its alert and independent musical personalities, the MCO’s core repertoire lies in the Viennese Classical and early Romantic periods, while the orchestra also plays contemporary works and world premieres.
The MCO has recorded with labels like Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Naxos, Harmonia Mundi, Sony Classical Records.
